HSBC El Salvador

HSBC El Salvador was one of the largest banks in El Salvador . It was founded in early January 1885 and was also the oldest bank in El Salvador.

HSBC had more than 50 branches across the country and operated around 200 ATMs in San Salvador alone . The headquarters were in the Centro Financiero Gigante , a modern complex of several buildings in the main business district of San Salvador on Olympic Avenue .

On January 23, 2012, HSBC's share capital and all of its banking operations were acquired for US $ 801 million by the US financial conglomerate Davivienda . The brand name of the oldest bank in El Salvador is now history and has been replaced by DAVIVIENDA.
