Since 1993, the Supporters Club has been trying to help shape club life within HSV and to influence club policy in the interests of spectators and fans. From its voluntary beginnings, the club has developed into an organization with 66,489 members (as of June 1, 2019) across Europe. The Supporters Club is active in various bodies and works closely with other fan organizations, clubs, institutions and authorities. Contact persons are available in almost all major cities and regions in Germany.

history

The HSV Supporters Club was officially founded on March 28, 1993 by 36 HSV members as an independent HSV department. The basic goal was to actively shape the club life within the Hamburger Sport-Verein eV and to influence club politics in the interests of fans and members; the focus is on supporting the Bundesliga soccer team. The cohesion within the HSV fan scene should be improved by organizing events and joint trips away from home. But the support of the whole club is also promoted, for example by equipping the team by the SC. With 66,489 members (as of June 1, 2019), the SC is the largest department of the HSV, which currently has 88,201 members (as of June 1, 2019) in its ranks.

Structure of the department

The SC is managed by a five-person honorary department head. In day-to-day business she is supported by a full-time managing director and 15 employees plus part-time workers and temporary workers. In addition to traditional fan support, the employees take care of the fan clubs, away trips and tickets, member administration and exclusive Supporters Club merchandising . In addition to the full-time employees, the Supporters Club can fall back on several hundred volunteers. Contact persons are available in almost all major cities and regions in Germany. Membership in the SC is only possible through membership in the Hamburger Sport-Verein eV The SC belongs to the department supporting members and as a full member of the HSV, with all rights and obligations, the entire club is supported in addition to the work of the SC. This happens not only in a non-material way, but also financially, as the membership fees are shared between the SC and the entire association. This means that one part is in the administration of the entire association and the other part is available to the department. The departmental fees are used to support internal association projects, such as the "supporters news", and for events. They also pay the SC employees. There is a regular exchange with the board of directors and the various committees of HSV. Today, no fan-relevant decisions are made without talks with representatives from the SC.

Projects and fields of activity

Successes of the Supporters Club are u. a. the preservation of the standing room after the construction of the new stadium and the uniform seating of the stadium based on the British model. In the area of season ticket prices, discussions take place between the board of directors and department heads before each season. The SC has achieved a special price for club members when buying season tickets and a right of first refusal on competitive games of the Bundesliga team. In the north stand, inexpensive permanent ticket seats have been created.

museum

HSV was the first club in the Bundesliga to have its own museum. The SC played a key role in the implementation and is still the largest sponsor of this institution today. One of the founders of the Supporters Club is now head of the HSV Museum .

Amateur sport

In addition to financial support for various amateur departments, the second football team was also supported until the 2008/09 season. Until the DFL changed the regulations, the SC z. B. provided the security service.

Away trips

Organizing common away trips was a large part of the work of the Supporters Club. Before the SC was founded, trips to HSV games were mostly organized by commercial companies or private individuals. Since 1993 there have been official trips organized by the association. Over 100 special moves represent a Bundesliga record, including a. with the HSV-Express, a club-owned special train. As costs have increased dramatically in recent years, the train was only used occasionally. The unfavorable and sometimes very short-term game day schedule also contributes to the reduction in journeys. In addition to organizing the trip, the SC also took care of ticketing away from home. The away season ticket was introduced for the "all-rounder" for the 2006/07 season, so that no more games are missed.

Since the beginning of the 2018/19 season, tickets for away games have been sold directly by HSV. For some home and away games, the club organizes trips, some with hotel accommodation, under the name HSV-Reisen . Pure bus trips to the away games are distributed and organized by the SC itself.

Supporters News

With the fan magazine “supporters news”, the Supporters Club has its own language organ, which is currently published four times a year. Many volunteer editors work here who deal with all topics related to being a fan, but also the HSV in general. Every SC member receives the magazine automatically and can contribute an article at any time.

Merchandising

Even in the early days of the SC, its own textiles were finished with the SC logo in order to publicly acknowledge its membership. From 1994 there were the first articles that were distributed exclusively to members. In addition to textiles such as scarves, jackets, polo shirts and much more, classic fan articles such as lanyards, stickers, pins and pennants are also offered.

Representative offices

The supporters message is a bus painted in the HSV colors in the SC design. At all HSV home games, this bus is behind the west stand of the Volksparkstadion and is then available as a point of contact for the HSV fan community at many other events. You can purchase SC merchandising here and find answers to questions.

Since December 2006, the new offices of the Supporters Club have been located in the north office of the HSV in the north stand of the stadium.

The SC stand, which is open on home match days, is located on level 3 of the north stand. In addition to SC Merchandising, you can also book all current trips and tickets here.

Regional supervisors and ambassadors serve as contact persons in the respective region. They work on a voluntary basis and sometimes organize their own trips to home and away games. They are the point of contact for all kinds of information about HSV.

Another kind of ambassador for the HSV are the official fan clubs (OFC) of the HSV, of which over 700 are registered with the SC. The OFCs are supported with trips and event planning, have their own information service and special ticket ordering options.

Since the beginning of 2007 there has been a youth group of the HSV fan project, which has been continued together with the SC since summer 2008. The Young Supporters are an open youth group with special offers for HSVers between 14 and 18 years of age.
