The hair-nosed wombats ( Lasiorhinus ) are a genus from the marsupial family of the wombats (Vombatidae). From Nacktnasenwombat they differ in addition to the eponymous hair on the snout, among others, in the shape of the ears, which are in this genus long and pointed. They also have a soft fur, which is described as silky.
The genus is divided into two types:
- the critically endangered northern hair-nosed wombat ( L. krefftii )
- and the southern hair-nosed wombat ( L. latifrons ) found in South Australia .
