history

Haberkorn GmbH was founded in 1932 by Leopold and Frieda Haberkorn in Bregenz as a small rope manufacturer. When Semperit , a company in the rubber and plastics industry, became a Haberkorn supplier in 1949 , Haberkorn entered the technical trade. After his son Lothar Haberkorn founded a branch in Vienna, further branches were gradually added until Haberkorn was represented throughout Austria in 1980 (Wolfurt, Innsbruck, Leonding, Vienna, Villach, Graz). The internationalization of the company began in 1992 with the establishment of Unico Haberkorn AG Switzerland (today Haberkorn Suisse). Only a year later, Haberkorn opened its doors in Hungary and the development of Eastern Europe began. In 2003 Haberkorn took over the hardware retailer Gebrüder Ulmer in Dornbirn. In 2011 the Linz-based Glogar Group, which specializes in hydraulic connecting elements, was taken over, and in 2012 the tool dealer Fairtool in Hungary. In 2014 the tool and occupational safety dealer Ploberger in Lower Austria and the lubricant dealer Acitinia in Slovenia were acquired. In 2016, Haberkorn opened up the southern German market with the purchase of the Sahlberg company. In 2018, construction work began to expand the logistics capacities at the Wolfurt location. The capacities should almost double. The investment volume is 20 million euros.

Corporate structure

The parent company is the Haberkorn Holding AG, under which the Haberkorn GmbH with the board members Gerald Fitz (CEO), Wolfgang Baur, and Christoph Winder as well as the international companies are located. The company is owned by the Haberkorn family.
