Habib Edib

Habib Edib (* 1890 in Istanbul ; † 1968 there ) was a Turkish journalist and newspaper founder who worked in Germany for some time. Here he devoted himself to the literary translation of Turkish works into German and the editing of Turkish language textbooks.

Edib had studied political science before coming to Germany in 1914, where he worked as a journalist in Weimar for several years. After his return to Turkey he worked successfully as a businessman. In 1948 he was able to revive the daily newspaper Yeni Istanbul , which he ran from then on . Habib Edib was the head of this newspaper until 1961.
