Habronichos

Habronichos or Abronichos ( Gr . Ἁβρώνιχος [Habrónichos] or Ἀβρώνιχος [Abrónichos]) was an Athenian citizen at the time of the Persian Wars .

Life

Habronichos is the son of Lysicles ' in the Attic demos Lamptrai born. He took part in the Persian Wars at the time of Xerxes I , where he brought the news of Leonidas ' defeat at the Battle of Thermopylae to the Athenian fleet off Cape Artemision . The following year he and Aristeides reported to Themistocles the progress of the construction of the wall around Athens. He may have been banished as a result of the ostracism .
