Hacı Arif Bey (* 1831 in Istanbul ; † 1885 there ) was one of the most important Ottoman composers of the 19th century .

Hacı Arif Bey is considered to be the founder of the classical period of Turkish art music . He composed about a thousand songs and some religious works. About 200 songs and seven of the religious pieces are still preserved. From 1873 he published a 600-page collection of poems under the title “Mecmuai Arif”. His life was filmed for television in 1982 by Yucel Cakmakli in a Turkish series.
