history

Beginnings

The idea of starting a clothing brand came to Jeremy Hackett in 1979 after meeting Ashley Lloyd-Jennings at the famous flea market on Portobello Road in London . In the same year they started selling goods in that market.

In 1983 they opened their first store on New Kings Road in Chelsea, London . Until then, they only sold second-hand clothing. The company only gradually expanded and a collection was designed and sold. The first store outside of England opened in Madrid in 1989 . In 1992 Alfred Dunhill bought into the company so that the opening of the first flagship store on Sloane Street in London could be financed. To date, this business is the largest self-operated in the UK.

Recent history

In June 2005 the company was sold by the Swiss-based Richemont investor group to the Spanish company Torreal. Since then, the international expansion strategy has continued, so that Hackett is now represented with 77 stores in sixteen countries around the world.

In addition to the clothing items offered, Hackett has expanded the services offered and offers bespoke and personalized clothing in the flagship store in London.

Inspired by the style of classic British fashion, Hackett sells jackets, suits, shirts, polo shirts, rugby shirts and apparel for formal occasions.
