Hadubrand

Hadubrand (in the late medieval versions: Alebrand ) is the son of Hildebrand , the armorer of Dietrich von Bern . In the Hildebrandslied and in the Younger Hildebrandslied he plays the role of the fighter who wants to prevent the old Hildebrand from returning to his homeland and is defeated in a duel. In the younger song, both Hildebrand's wife Ute first audition that Hadubrand had defeated an unknown person and made him a prisoner.

etymology

The name Hadubrand can be traced back to the Old High German noun hadu , which means “fight” (see today's word Hader ).
