The port of Savannah is one of the most important seaports on the US Atlantic coast. The port in Savannah, Georgia has two deep water terminals, the Garden City Terminal and the Ocean Terminal. The Ocean Terminal is intended for the handling of forestry products, automobiles and steel, among other things, the Garden City Terminal is one of the most important and largest container terminals in the United States with an area of around 486 hectares. In August 2017, 348,297 twenty-foot equivalent units were transacted via the port of Savannah.
