history

Based on the demographic developments in Hagen, parents and educators came together for the first time in 2009 to develop ideas for reform pedagogical cooperation between schools aside from state school development planning. In 2011, the application for an independent elementary school and a secondary school was submitted to the Arnsberg district government. After approval, school operations began in August 2012, initially with just under 40 school children in grades 1-6. In 2017, the first graduates took the central degree after grade 10. At the end of 2017, around 120 children were studying at the HagenSchule. Since August 2019, a comprehensive school up to grade 13 has also been approved for the HagenSchule.

Right from the start, the HagenSchule has a bound all-day operation for both primary and secondary levels for all learners.

The HagenSchule has been participating in the European exchange program Erasmus + since 2017 .

Organization and degrees

The Hagen School teaches according to the Montessori pedagogy in mixed-age learning groups. The daily structure with morning circle, free work and networked learning replaces the classic timetable with school subjects. The planning methodology of the Marchtaler Plan ensures that all content relevant to the learning plan and the exams is covered.

The following state-recognized school qualifications can be obtained at the HagenSchule:

  • after 9th grade: secondary school leaving certificate
  • after 10th grade: intermediate school leaving certificate
  • after 13th grade: Abitur, technical diploma
