Semi-economy
Semi-economy refers to a once common form of living and agriculture that was created through the division of inheritance and was particularly characteristic of Neusiedl am See and the Heideboden region in the northeastern Seewinkel . A semi-economy is inhabited by two different parties.
The farms were originally owned by one owner and were mostly divided between two owners. All that remained together was the entrance gate to the inner courtyard and, depending on the agreement, also cellars and fountains. In Neusiedl am See, half-pubs with “double house numbers” can be found again and again.
