Count Moltke dump
The Graf Moltke dump is about 105 m above sea level. NN high mine dump in Gladbeck , North Rhine-Westphalia . The dump is located south of the federal motorway 2 in the Brauck district .
The residual coal in the overburden had self-ignited in the late 1970s / early 1980s and has been smoldering ever since. The Graf Moltke dump is therefore considered a burning dump . The German hard coal AG fought the spread of smoldering success with the injection of building materials.
The mine dump was created by backfilling the Moltke III / IV colliery, which mined here until 1971. The dump is now completely greened and prepared with sidewalks for recreational use.
On July 25, 2019, at around 2 p.m., a conflagration broke out on the dump in which more than 50,000 m² were on fire.
