The Haliç Bridge ( Turkish Haliç Köprüsü ) is a road and motorway bridge that leads the Otoyol 1 motorway and local connecting roads over the Golden Horn ( Turkish Haliç ) in the European part of Istanbul .

description

The approximately 1 km long structure stands in the rear, north-western part of the Golden Horn at a height of 22 m above the districts of Sütlüce and Halıcıoğlu on the north bank and the part of Eyüpsultan on the south-western bank, directly next to the Theodosian Wall , to which it is connected by large distribution structures .

The Haliç Bridge consists of three steel bridge structures standing close together, the middle, older motorway bridge and a later road bridge on both sides.

The motorway bridge originally had three lanes separated by a median and one sidewalk. Since 2008, it has had two separate lanes reserved for the Metrobüs in the middle and three unchanged to the north, but only two lanes for general traffic in the south and one sidewalk each, unchanged. The two bridges, which are 9 m apart, each have two lanes in one direction as well as a narrow hard shoulder and a sidewalk.

The highway bridge was built between 1971 and 1974 by a joint venture between the Japanese Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries and Julius Berger-Bauboag . The side bridges were built from 1994 to 1998 by a joint venture between IHI and the Turkish companies Enka and Bayindir.
