Heslach indoor swimming pool

The Heslach indoor swimming pool is a cultural monument in Stuttgart-Heslach .

The Heslach indoor swimming pool was built in 1929 in the New Objectivity style by the architects Franz Cloos and Friedrich Fischle on behalf of the Stuttgart Building Department. With its 50-meter pool, it was the largest indoor swimming pool in Germany at the time. The pool could be divided in the middle into a men's and a women's area. The construction costs amounted to two million Reichsmarks . The roof, which is provided with horizontal light strips, is supported by nine reinforced concrete arches. This form of roof construction was sensational at the time.

In 1988 rust was discovered on the supporting pillars of the bath. The indoor pool was renovated between 1989 and 1992. As part of the renovation, the 50-meter pool was divided into a diving pool, a 25-meter pool and a children's pool. The changing rooms, which are located under the swimming pool, still partly consist of historical single cabins with built-in clothes lockers .
