Ruff (hairdresser)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ruff is a protective collar for the customer at the hairdresser's .

A wide collar made of crepe-like material is placed tightly around the customer's neck, followed by a towel or a dressing gown, if necessary. First and foremost, the ruff prevents that cut hair gets under the customer's clothing or that diseases are transmitted directly to the skin through the cape (skin diseases such as rashes, inflammations, etc.) or allergic reactions occur against the synthetic fibers of the cape. However, the ruff can also be used to prevent head movement and associated discomfort during the haircut .
