The Haltbank ( Norwegian Haltbanken ) is a large sub- sea level sandbank off the west coast of Norway .

geography

location

The Haltbank is located about 100 kilometers off the west coast of Norway.

expansion

The Haltbank is approx. 60 kilometers long (in north-south direction) and approx. 30 kilometers wide (in west-east direction). The area covers around 2,000 square kilometers.

economy

The Haltbank is considered a good fishing area. Fish species such as B. Cod and plaice prefer to stay in the shallow water zones because of the slightly warmer water. There are oil and gas deposits in the Haldenbank sea area.
