Attitude (hydraulic engineering)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In hydraulic engineering, hold means the retention of water at a certain - dammed or lowered - level. A distinction is made:

  • Damming as a congestion-influenced area - with the same level - of a barrage in a flowing water (according to DIN 4048-1) or as a section between two neighboring barrages of a dam-regulated river section (according to DIN 4054), above the congested area with a changed level;
  • Canal support as a route between two adjacent canal steps or above the last step of a branch canal (according to DIN 4054) with the same water level;
  • Groundwater maintenance as holding a certain groundwater level, which has been lowered by pumping out, to drain excavation pits.
