The Hampton Railway ( AAR reporting mark: HLSC) is an American Class 3 rail company based in Oregon .

history

The Hampton Railway was founded in 1995 by the Hampton Lumber Sales Company, a subsidiary of the forestry company Hampton Affiliates. It took over from the Willamina and Grand Ronde Railway the 8.3 kilometer section of the Willamina – Grand Ronde line from Willamina to Fort Hill . The route is operated by the Genesee and Wyoming subsidiary Willamette and Pacific Railroad . The company's sawmill was located in Fort Hill. This was the main customer on the line. Since the sawmill was shut down in 2004, only essential goods traffic is currently guaranteed.

The most important transport goods were forest products. The volume was less than 500 cars a year. In Willamina there is a transition to the Willamette and Pacific Railroad.
