Hand talk

HandTalk is a commercial computer program for the board game Go . The programmer is Chen Zhixing (* 1931), professor of chemistry at Guangzhou University .

HandTalk was first published in 1993. For a long time it was considered to be the most popular Go program, partly because it became World Computer Go champion in 1996 and 1997 . In 1999, Chen Zhixing completely revised the program and published it under the title GoeMate . In 2001 and 2002 the program again won the World Championship for Go programs. The latest version is sold under the name Wulu .

The name HandTalk is the English translation of Shou tan or shodan , a literary term for the game Go itself that has been used in China and Japan since the 5th century .
