Hanesbrands is an American clothing manufacturer based in Winston-Salem in the US state of North Carolina . Hanesbrands mainly sells underwear such as underpants, socks, bras and simple T-shirts. In 2018, Hanesbrands was ranked 433rd in the Fortune 500 list of the top-selling US companies. The company's first predecessor was founded in 1901, but today's company was only spun off from the textile division of the former consumer goods group Sara Lee in 2006 . The company states that it produces over 90% of its products in its own factories and that only a small part of the production is outsourced. In 2011 it became known that, among other things, Hanesbrands was lobbying to prevent the Haitian minimum wage from being raised more sharply .

The most famous brands include Hanes, Champion and Wonderbra . The Nur Die and Nur Der brands are particularly well known on the German market.
