Hans-Gerd Padeken

Hans-Gerd Padeken (born December 20, 1926 in Enjebuhr , Wesermarsch) is a German chemist, known as the editor of the Houben-Weyl (Handbook of Organic Chemistry).

Padeken, the son of a farmer, received his doctorate in chemistry from the University of Tübingen in 1966 (photochemical studies: a contribution to the photooximation of cyclanes and experiments on the phosphonylation of cyclohexane). In the 1980s he headed the central editorial office of Houben-Weyl at Georg Thieme Verlag in Stuttgart.

In 1987 he and the editorial team received the literary prize of the Fonds der Chemischen Industrie as editor of Houben-Weyl .
