Hans-Peter Niedermeier

Hans-Peter Niedermeier (* 1954 ) is a German politician and education manager. He heads the Hanns Seidel Foundation's funding agency .

Life

Hans-Peter Niedermeier studied political science, Catholic theology and history at the University of Munich. As a student he was already active in the student union and published a school newspaper; later he joined the Junge Union . In 1980, he began his work at the Hanns Seidel Foundation as a research assistant for press work, media policy and the promotion of young journalists. There he heads the editorial office of the "Werkstatt", the foundation magazine for young journalists.

In 1991 he was promoted to head of the funding agency. In 1999 he was appointed honorary professor for the field of "Political Systems" at the Mittweida University of Applied Sciences . In 2014 the University of Babeş-Bólyai awarded him another honorary professorship on the basis of the proposal of the Cluj-Napoca Faculty of Politics, Administration and Communication Sciences and the decision of the Senate. The National University of Lemberg Lucian Blaga and the University of Sibiu each awarded him honorary doctorates. In December 2019, the Mittweida University of Applied Sciences awarded him the Golden Badge of Honor, justification: He has "the best connections and a close network of previous scholarship holders in management positions in politics, media and business in almost all regions of the world".

Hans-Peter Niedermeier is involved in the club of old scholars of the Hanns Seidel Foundation (CdAS eV).
