Hans-Wolf Reinhardt (born November 28, 1939 in Breslau ) is a German civil engineer and materials scientist .

Reinhardt studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Stuttgart , where he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Building Materials, where he received his doctorate on July 25, 1968 (contribution to the stress-optical investigation of transient spatial thermal stress states). After completing his doctorate, he was at the Illinois Institute of Technology .

Reinhardt taught at the TU Delft from 1975 to 1986 , from 1986 to 1990 at the TU Darmstadt and was professor for materials in construction (with the associated institute for materials in construction IWB) at the University of Stuttgart and director of its materials testing institute from 1990 until his retirement in 2006 ( Otto Graf Institute, FMPA).

He deals with materials in construction and non-destructive material testing.

In 2013 he received the Emil Mörsch Memorial Medal . In 2004 he received an honorary doctorate. He has been a Fellow of the International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures (RILEM) since 1996 and of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) since 2005 . He has been an honorary member of RILEM since 2009.

Among other things, he has a patent (1999) for the ultrasound examination of hardening materials such as concrete and works using wireless sensor networks for building monitoring, for example on bridges made of concrete. He also dealt with the use of superabsorbents (SAP) to protect reinforced concrete from corrosion.
