Hans Engert

Hans Engert (born April 22, 1951 in Mannheim ) is a German tennis player and coach.

Engert and his parents came to TK Grün-Weiss Mannheim at the age of four . He was a member of the DTB junior national team and was multiple German and junior European champion. In 1973 he played for the TC 1950 Ladenburg in the tennis Bundesliga . After Grün-Weiss Mannheim was promoted to the Bundesliga in 1975, he returned to his home club. Engert had 110 wins in 179 appearances in the following years, making him the second most successful player in the history of Grün-Weiss Mannheim after Dirk Dier . As a single player, the right-hander Engert reached 5th place in the German and 75th place in the world rankings .

Even after the end of his active playing career, Engert remained connected to tennis. He obtained the trainer's diploma and in 1985 became head coach of performance and youth development at TC BASF Ludwigshafen and in 1988 at the Rhineland-Palatinate Tennis Association. From 1997 to 2002 he was managing director of Steffi Graf's sports company .
