Hans Fischinger

Hans Fischinger (born September 15, 1909 in Gelnhausen , † after August 20, 1944 in Serbia (missing)) was a German film director . Oskar Fischinger's brother supported him in numerous projects. When Oskar went to America in 1936, Hans was pursuing his own projects.

Life

For his abstract animated film Dance of Colors , which premiered in 1939 , he used music from Amilcare Ponchielli's La danza delle ore . Fischinger commented on the film: “Man must learn to see musically.” The dance of colors was produced using the Gasparcolor process and premiered on February 27, 1939 in Hamburg's Waterloo Theater. The main film that ran there was the final chord with Willy Birgel . Hans Fischinger's colored light concert was the last abstract film to be shown in the Third Reich . The film testing agency characterized the film as follows: "The film shows a play of colors and shapes that move according to the music without any representational content."
