Hans Gerhard Zachmann
Hans Gerhard Zachmann (born July 21, 1931 in Solka ; † April 28, 1996 in Milan , mostly Hans G. Zachmann ) was a German chemist and university professor.
Life
Zachmann studied chemistry and obtained his doctorate in 1960 with Herbert Arthur Stuart at the University of Mainz . He also completed his habilitation in Mainz in 1965. He then went to Anton Peterlin as a visiting scientist at the Research Triangle Institute in North Carolina in 1968 . Between 1971 and 1977 Zachmann was Professor of Chemistry in Mainz, and in 1977 he moved to the University of Hamburg . Scientifically, he dealt mainly with polymers. Zachmann also became known through a textbook "Mathematics for Chemists", which was first published in 1972 and had numerous editions.
Zachmann was the spokesman for the special research area “Macromolecules” at the University of Mainz .
