Hans-Joachim Grothe , called "Fande" (born June 4, 1931 in Schkeuditz ; † April 10, 2003 ) was a German boxer .

Career

In 1950 Grothe started boxing in Gardelegen and then came to Motor Mitte Magdeburg via Stendal in 1954 . From there he was delegated to SC Aufbau Magdeburg. In 1956 he was GDR light heavyweight champion, in 1958 middleweight and also champion of sports. During his membership in the GDR national team, he played fights in Egypt and Finland , as well as in almost all countries of the Eastern Bloc . On March 23, 1962, he played his last fight. Until then there were 179 fights in his starting book. Until 1991 he worked as a boxing instructor at Motor Mitte.

In 2004 a Hans-Joachim Grothe memorial evening was held in Magdeburg for the first time in his honor .
