Hans Küng (born April 24, 1949 ) is a former Swiss soccer goalie . During the last glorious years of FC Winterthur between 1971 and 1975, he was the first goalkeeper in the Winterthur's goal and then played for Neuchâtel Xamax FC and FC Basel . With Basel he became Swiss champion in 1980.

Career

Hans Küng came to FC Winterthur from the first division club FC Amriswil in 1968 , after the Winterthur team noticed him in a cup game against them in November 1968.

In Winterthur he was first signed as the 3rd goalie and was not used in league games in the 1968/69 and 1969/70 seasons. This changed in the autumn of 1970 when coach Willy Sommer gave him preference over Werner Frei . With him as the first goalie, the FCW reached the league cup final twice and the Swiss cup final in 1975. In 1974 he came to the goal of the Swiss national team for the first time .

In the summer of 1975, Küng finally left FC Winterthur and initially moved to Neuchâtel Xamax FC for two seasons in French-speaking Switzerland . After two seasons in Neuchâtel, Küng went to FC Basel , for which he was in action until 1983 and was part of the Basel championship team in the 1979/80 season .
