Hans Kottkamp
Hans Kottkamp (born before 1984) is a German doctor. He mainly deals with the treatment of heart diseases.
Life
Kottkamp studied human medicine from 1984 to 1990 at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster and the Texas Heart Institute in Houston / Texas. He obtained his doctorate in Münster in 1991 and passed his specialist examination for internal medicine in 1997. He completed his habilitation on "Experimental and clinical investigations on catheter ablation of ventricular tachycardias in structurally normal hearts (idiopathic left ventricular tachycardias) and in dilated cardiomyopathy" in 1998. In the same year he was senior physician at the Heart Center of the University of Leipzig . In 1999 he later became a specialist in cardiology. In 2003, Kottkamp was appointed professor of internal medicine at the Medical Faculty of the University of Leipzig. In 2006 he founded the Rhythmology Department at the Hirslanden Clinic in Zurich and heads it.
He published numerous scientific articles on the human heart and its diseases and its treatment options. Kottkamp also holds two patents in the field.
In his medical work, he specialized in rhythmology, catheter ablation, implantation of pacemakers and ICD and CRT.
He is editor of the Journals of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology , Heart Rhythm Journals , Journals of the American College of Cardiology and the JACC Clinical Electrophysiology .
Awards
In 1994 he was awarded the Rudolf-Thauer Poster Prize of the German Society for Cardiovascular Research for the presentation of "Electrophysiological Findings and Catheter Ablation in Idiopathic Left Ventricular Tachycardia" and in 1999 the Carl Reinhold August Wunderlich Prize for Clinical Teaching at the Medical Faculty from the University of Leipzig. Kottkamp was also awarded a visiting professorship at Dalian Medical University in the People's Republic of China on August 22, 2001. For the poster presentation on “ Global contact mapping plus ablation of the left atrium for the treatment of atrial fibrillation. A novel multi-electrode catheter system ”he received an award in 2014 at the European Society of Cardiology Congress in Barcelona.
