Hans Friedrich Schlothfeldt (born February 26, 1890 in Fockbek ; † July 8, 1966 in Rendsburg ) was a German engineer and local researcher.

Live and act

Hans Schlothfeldt was a son of Carsten Schlothfeldt (* June 12, 1851 in Fockbek; † September 11, 1923 there) and his wife Maria Chathrina, née Könke (* August 3, 1858 in Fockbek; † February 9, 1963 in Rendsburg). He attended elementary school in his home town and from 1905 received training as a modeller and draftsman in the Büdelsdorfer Carlshütte . In 1919 he became operations manager and chief engineer in what was then the largest North German iron foundry. Although he was self-taught, he was widely recognized. He worked here until 1953 and was also a sought-after advisor after that.

Schlothfeldt took on important honorary posts in foundry associations. For many years he chaired the Northwest German Section of the Association of German Foundry Experts. He participated in the work of the Technical Committee of the Foundry Association and the Foundry Standards Committee. From 1948 to 1951 he was a member of the council of Rendsburg.

Schlothfeldt made his work as a local researcher known. From 1947 until the end of his life he was chairman of the Rendsburg Museum Association and headed its museum. As a well-known person in the Rendsburg district, he was able to significantly increase its holdings. He inventoried numerous pieces in the exhibition and cataloged them. He played a decisive role in the publication of the Rendsburg yearbooks, the editing of which he took over himself. As an author, he himself wrote 19 articles on local history. He was also a member of the board of the Rendsburg local association of the Schleswig-Holstein Heimatbund for many years.

Schlothfeldt wrote two important publications. For several decades he examined sources about his place of birth Fockbek and based on this published in 1962 "The Chronicle of Fockbeck", which included carefully selected facts as well as data on families and farms. In addition, he dealt with heraldry. In 1964 he wrote about "Schleswig-Holstein district and town coats of arms" and thus attracted the attention of historians.

Schlothfeldt initiated the iron art museum of the Ahlmann-Carlhütte. Since the 1920 he had collected exhibits that formed the basis of the exhibition.

In 1955 Schlothfeldt was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit and in 1960 the Freiherr vom Stein plaque .

family

On August 26, 1915, Schlothfeldt married Anna Christine Laß in Rendsburg (born November 9, 1891 in Forsbek; † February 9, 1963 in Rendsburg). The couple had two daughters.
