Hans Zürn the Elder
Hans Zürn the Elder (* between 1555 and 1560; † after 1631) was a German sculptor and ancestor of the famous Upper Swabian family of sculptors Zürn .
life and work
From 1560 to 1570 he did his sculpting apprenticeship in Bad Buchau . His teacher was perhaps Jakob Grangler . From 1582 he was a citizen and master sculptor in Bad Waldsee . Hans Zürn the Elder Ä. was the teacher of his sons Jörg , David, Hans d. J. , Martin and Michael d. Ä. He has been mentioned as a citizen in Buchhorn since 1619 .
From 1613 to 1616 he worked on the high altar of the minster in Überlingen and in 1624 created the high altar of the Frauenberg chapel in Bad Waldsee .
