The Sonova Audiological Care Austria GmbH (until 31 December 2018 Hansaton Acoustic GmbH), headquartered in Wals-Himmelreich Salzburg , is a provider of hearing systems. The company has 370 employees and is represented throughout Austria with over 100 hearing competence centers. The core business includes hearing measurements, fitting hearing aids, hearing protection and pediatric acoustics . Hansaton equips medical practices and clinics with ENT- specific medical technology.

history

In 1961, Hansaton opened its first hearing aid specialist shop in Innsbruck as the first foreign branch of Rudolf Fischer KG Hamburg, Germany. In 1969 the company merged with Siemens Reiniger Werken, Vienna, and in 1976 was incorporated into the Siemens group as a subsidiary . In 1983 Hansaton was taken over by Siemens Audiologische Technik from Erlangen and in 1993 it was sold to the Hansaton management team at the time through a management buy-out . In 2001 Phonak Holding AG (now Sonova AG) took over Hansaton. In 2004 Hansaton acquired Viennatone Hörgeräte GmbH in Vienna with over 20 locations and thus had 210 employees. In 2011, Hansaton expanded by taking over the hearing aid chain DeMax, one of the leading providers of hearing aids in Hungary. In November 2017, the Viennese hearing aid company Pachmann was taken over by Hansaton. Since January 2019 the company name has been Sonova Audiological Care Austria GmbH.

Products

Hansaton sells in-the-ear hearing aids and behind-the-ear hearing aids , and looks after customers with cochlear implants such as those of its sister company Advanced Bionics.
