The Hanseat is a North German from the Lübeck baker and pastry chef Heinrich Schabbel invented pastries . It consists of two round shortcrust pastry slices, each about 10 centimeters in diameter and 5 millimeters thick, the edges of which are usually jagged. There is a thin layer of strawberry or raspberry jam between the slices . The upper plate is a sugar - glaze provided knows of the half, the other is red. The two-tone glaze is derived from the colors of the Hanseatic flags and the Hanseatic coat of arms. The name Hanseat also refers to the Hanseatic League .
