Hansjörg Wöhrle

Hansjörg Wöhrle (born August 29, 1943 in Lörrach ) is a German chef whose Adler restaurant has been awarded a Michelin star for 36 years .

biography

Wöhrle was actually supposed to become an architect and take over his father's architectural office; But after the 12-year-old went to dinner with his grandmother and Adler hostess at the Rheinfelder Hof in nearby Basel , he wanted to become a chef. After his apprenticeship in Lörrachs Lerche, he worked in renowned houses, including in Switzerland. In 1968 Hansjörg Wöhrle and his father rebuilt the eagle from 1548, which had been closed for years ; The father died before the opening in December 1968.

In 1972 the Adler was awarded a Michelin star in Weil am Rhein , which the Adler held for 36 years without a break. His wife Gerda managed the service. In 1987 Hans Theo Baumann delivered a menu draft. In 1988 the Bistro Spatz was added, in a building that was acquired at the time next to the inn, where additional hotel rooms were also offered. Wöhrle cooked classic-modern and seasonal.

At the beginning of 2018 he had to close the restaurant because he could not find a successor. The hotel is still open.
