Harpolingen is a district of the city of Bad Säckingen and is located on the southern slope of the Black Forest at an altitude of 450 to 550 meters above sea level. The mayor is Torsten Weimer. Harpolingen is seven kilometers from the city center of Bad Säckingen and has 700 inhabitants. The place arose during the first Alemannic settlement. The village was first mentioned in 1281 as Hartpoldingen . He belonged to the manor of the Säckinger Stift . The school reformer Joseph Anton Sickinger was born in Harpolingen .

On January 1, 1973 Harpolingen was incorporated into the city of Säckingen.
