Harry’s is a New York- based company with offices in London and Eisfeld that makes and sells shaving and grooming products for men and women. The razor blades are manufactured at the company's production site in Eisfeld, southern Thuringia, which has existed since 1920 . Harry's sells its Harry's products online and through selected retail partners in Canada, the UK and the USA.

Harry's was launched in 2013 and founded by Jeff Raider and Andy Katz-Mayfield as a (direct-to-consumer) brand with the aim of offering a "simple, extraordinary and more affordable solution for buying shaving products".

history

In 2011, Andy Katz-Mayfield was inspired to create Harry's after a frustrating experience buying razors at a drug store. "I was in a drugstore and was annoyed about how expensive wet razors are and that there were basically only two brands," says Katz-Mayfield. With Warby Parker's co-founder Jeff Raider, Katz-Mayfield began looking for “a better designed razor and a better shaving experience at a reasonable price” and discovered “the Croma, a special blade from Europe that he read about on shaving blogs would have".

In 2012 Feintechnik GmbH Eisfeld, the German manufacturer of Croma, agreed to adapt the razor blade module for Harry's. In 2014 Harry's bought Feintechnik for $ 100 million and integrated it vertically. Winning Thüringer Feintechnik as a supplier was only the first step. The goal of the Harry's founders: to bring the entire value chain under one roof. Since then, Harry's has built a globally unique company, formed from an original start-up and a production plant with almost 100 years of history. At the Eisfeld site, the number of employees has doubled since the takeover and the site has been expanded. Just one year after the merger, the company inaugurated a new production site just a few hundred meters from its headquarters, followed by the opening of a second, newly built production hall in 2017. The further expansion of Harry's campus in Eisfeld is planned.

financing

From 2012 to 2014, Harry's received an estimated $ 287 million from various sources, with Tiger Global Management serving as the main investor.

In 2015, Harry's received Series C funding of $ 75.6 million, led by Wellington Partners, bringing Harry's value to $ 750 million.

In February 2018, Harry's raised $ 112 million in Series D funded by Alliance Consumer Growth and Temasek together with Tao Capital Partners.

Harry's Inc. and Harry's Labs

In February 2018, Harry's announced that it would use its latest round of funding to create and invest in new CPG brands. These will come under the umbrella of Harry's Inc.

The company also announced that Jeff Raider will lead Harry's Labs - an organization that will use the expertise of Harry's team to advise and fund entrepreneurs trying to start CPG businesses.

flamingo

In October 2018 Harry's developed a new range especially for women. A completely new brand was developed for this, Flamingo. The start-up is expanding with a women's brand.
