The Harter Teich is a nature reserve in the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district , Styria , Austria .

Location and importance

The 16 hectare lake between Feistritztal and Safental is an important passage for bird migration and has been a nature reserve since 1974. The mean altitude is 410 m.

history

The hard pond was created at the beginning of the 17th century. It was first mentioned in a document in 1657. The pond was owned by the Herbersteins until 1954 and is now owned by the Großhart community.
