As a singer and songwriter, she is partly responsible for the popular influence of freestyle in the early 1990s.

biography

Lil Suzy began her career at the age of five when she was discovered by a talent scout while singing covers of songs by Tina Turner , Cyndi Lauper and Madonna as the opening act for Thelma Houston and Village People in Manhattan Beach , California .

At the age of eight she got her first record deal with Fever Records . In 1988 their first single Randy was released.

At the age of twelve she joined the Warlock Records label and produced the first studio album Love Can't Wait with Tony Garcia . The single, Take Me in Your Arms , became her most popular track. Another single, Falling in Love , was released in 1992.

In the spring of 1994 their second album Back to Dance , again produced by Tony Garcia, was released. The only single, Turn the Beat Around , released in late 1993, did not achieve its past success. Caused by the moderate success of the album, Lil Suzy left the record company and founded her own label, Empress Records.

In April 1995 she released her third album, Life Goes On . This album was very important for the new music style Eurodance . It contains four singles, including Promise Me , which reached number 62 on the Billboard Hot 100 .

In 1997, the fourth studio album was released, which contained the new songs Paradise and Can't Get You Out of My Mind , which became the most popular of their songs. With the participation of Crystal Waters , the song Lost Love Letter was also created , which is also on the album. It also includes the cover song of Memories .

In 1999, The MegaMix was released, a collection of their old hits and new remixes.

On October 2, 2000, Lil Suzy opened a beauty salon on Staten Island .

In 2002 The Greatest Hits was released , a collection of their greatest hits, which were newly recorded. In the same year Lil Suzy released the single Don't You Want Me together with Collage exclusively for the German music market. The single is a cover of a song by The Human League .

It wasn't until 2009 that a song by Lil Suzy called Dance Tonight was released , which could only be downloaded onto iTunes .

Career

Considered one of the top freestyle singers, Lil Suzy is best known for the club hit Take Me in Your Arms . The song was written by John Romano and Julian Hernandez and reached number 49 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1992 when Lil Suzy was only twelve years old. She was then named "Best New Dance Artist" of the year and "Youngest artist ever" by Billboard Magazine .

She got her first public attention when she was only eight years old when she released her debut single Randy .

She went on tour with Lisette Melendez and Angel Clivillés , the lead singer of the 1980s / 1990s girl band The Cover Girls , under the name SAL . She also toured with Amber and the now defunct electronic group Prophecy Collective .
