Hartmut Pohl

Hartmut Pohl (* 1953 ) is a German computer scientist and university professor.

Life

Hartmut Pohl studied at the University of Cologne and received his doctorate in 1979 with a dissertation in applied computer science ('growth simulations') 1991–1995 professor in Bochum and Gelsenkirchen / Bocholt. In 1996 Pohl took over a professorship for information security / software security at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences .

Hartmut Pohl's research focus is IT security and in particular the methodical identification of security gaps in IT systems: software, firmware, apps and systems as well as networks and distributed ledger technology (blockchain etc.).

In 2009 Hartmut Pohl was also appointed head of the German Internet Council (DIR) of the Federal Association of the Digital Economy .

Hartmut Pohl has been managing partner of softScheck GmbH - IT security consulting, Sankt Augustin, since 2011.

In the Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI), Pohl is the spokesman for the Presidium's Working Group on Data Protection and IT Security , and in the International Federation for Information Processing he is the German representative in the Technical Committee Security and Privacy Protection in Information Processing Systems .
