Haruka Fujii

Haruka Fujii ( Japanese 藤井 は る か , Fujii Haruka ; * in Saitama Prefecture ) is a Japanese percussionist and marimba player.

Live and act

The daughter of the marimba player Mutsuko Fujii began studying the piano at the age of three, but switched to marimba under the impression of her mother . She studied at the Tōkyō Geijutsu Daigaku , the Juilliard School of Music and the Mannes College of Music .

Fijii is a member of the New York contemporary music ensemble Flexible Music and Line C3 Percussion Group, as well as Yo-Yo Mas Silk Road Ensemble . She has performed with the Munich Philharmonic , the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra , the Sydney Symphony Orchestra , the Orchester National de Lyon , the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and the NHK Symphony Orchestra .

Fujii works regularly with the composer Tan Dun , whose Water Percussion Concerto and Paper Percussion Concerto she played worldwide. Due to her interest in contemporary music, she played world premieres of works by modern composers such as Franghiz Ali-Zadeh , Akira Miyoshi and Maki Ishii . Recordings of these world premieres have been released by the Kosei , ALM Records and Deutsche Grammophon labels .
