Haruka Tachimoto

Haruka Tachimoto ( Japanese 田 知本 遥 ; born August 3, 1990 in Imizu ) is a former Japanese judoka and Olympic champion. She competed in the weight class up to 70 kilograms, the middleweight .

Life

Tachimoto's first international success was winning the U20 Asian Championships in 2007. In 2008 she won gold at the U20 World Championships in Bangkok, which she successfully defended in 2009 in Paris. In 2011 she received the silver medal at the Asian Championships after losing to South Korean Hwang Ye-Sul . In 2012 she won the Grand Slam in Paris and the Japanese championships. At the 2012 Olympic Games in London , she won an opening victory against the Cuban Onix Cortés , after which she lost to the Chinese Chen Fei and the Dutch Edith Bosch and finished in seventh place.

At the Judo World Championships in 2013 she won the title with the Japanese team, followed by the bronze medal in the team ranking in 2014 . In 2015 Tachimoto won the Japanese championships and the Grand Slam tournaments in Tyumen and Paris. In 2016 she finished second at the Grand Slam in Paris and won the Japanese championships. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro she won all five fights, in the final she won against the Colombian Yuri Alvear after 2 minutes and 19 seconds by Ippon .
