The Hash Marihuana & Hemp Museum in Barcelona ( Spain ) is dedicated to the hemp plant in all its facets. It opened on May 9, 2012.

The museum is housed in Palau Mornau , a palace built in the 16th century by the noble Santcliment family . The museum is located in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona at Carrer Ample 35. The Santcliment family owned the city palace until the late 18th century, which was subsequently acquired by Josep Francesc Mornau, an honorary representative of the Royal Army. In the early 20th century, Joan Nadal de Vilardaga, brother of the then mayor of Barcelona, ​​bought the palace and commissioned Catalan modernism architect Manuel Raspall to expand and renovate the building. Its renovation work will u. a. highlighted by the artificial stone facade, wrought iron balconies with floral motifs and curved leaded glass windows. The halls were each furnished in their own décor with different floors, ceilings, windows, walls and furniture (no longer visible), in the various styles that were popular in the early 20th century. The museum has a total area of ​​482 square meters.

The building is a listed building (Category B: Properties and Goods of Local Interest).

In 1985, Ben Dronkers opened the Hash Marihuana & Hemp Museum in Amsterdam , the world's first cannabis museum. Years later he opened a sister museum in Barcelona. There you can admire the past, present and future of the cannabis plant, emphasizing that cannabis will be the "penicillin of the future" because of its medical benefits.

The permanent exhibition includes more than 8,000 exhibits that deal with the topic of cannabis. Every aspect of the plant related to human civilization is represented here in some way: from cultivation to consumption and from the healing ritual of ancient times to modern medicine.
