overview

In the building, which was renovated in 2010 and reopened on March 20, 2010, techniques of bridge construction and projects with over-long (suspension) bridges are shown. In addition to construction projects from all over the world, the construction projects of the Akashi-Kaikyō-Bridge and the Honshū-Shikoku-Bridge project ( 本州 四 国 連絡 橋 , Honshū-Shikoku renrakukyō ) will be presented. This project included the construction of three suspension bridges that connect the Japanese main island of Honshū with Shikoku . The first of these three bridges was the Seto-Ōhashi , one of a total of six bridges over which the Seto-Chūō highway leads. To the east of it, the Kobe-Awaji-Naruto highway connects Honshū with Shikoku over the Akashi-Kaikyō Bridge. The westernmost connection leads with the Nishiseto highway over a total of ten bridges to Shikoku.

You can see u. a. a replica of the Akashi-Kaikyō-Bridge on a scale of 1: 100 with a total length of 40 m, which stands in a wind tunnel and can be exposed to a wind speed of 60 m for test purposes. In addition to a cinema room for 3D screenings, there is also the certificate of the Guinness Book of Records , in which the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge is entered due to the world's largest span of its pylons.
