The Hastbrücke is a double drawbridge over the Havel in Zehdenick in Brandenburg .

history

There was a bridge at this point from time immemorial, which led from Zehdenick over the Havel and its dam to the later incorporated village of Hast . Around the middle of the 18th century, the bridge was built as a single-winged wooden drawbridge for the first time and its appearance had hardly changed until 1979. Since there has always been an important Havel crossing at this point and the boatmen with their heavily loaded barges could not get through under the bridge, a time-saving solution had to be found here. Because the boatmen simply picked up the bridge, which previously consisted only of boards, and then sometimes didn't put it back again, perhaps to save time. Until the beginning of the 19th century, the bridge was known as the Hohe Brücke . This bridge has been renewed several times. On April 28, 1945, all three Zehdenicker bridges, including the Hastbrücke, were blown up by the German Wehrmacht shortly before the end of World War II . After the war it was rebuilt. In the years 1991/92 today's double-leaf steel construction was erected. The inauguration took place to mark Zehdenick's 775th anniversary.
