Shigehiko Hasumi

Shigehiko Hasumi ( Japanese 蓮 実 重 彦 , Hasumi Shigehiko ; born April 29, 1936 ) is a Japanese literary scholar, culture and film critic.

Life

With the translation of the writings of Gilles Deleuzes , Jacques Derridas and Roland Barthes ' Hasumi contributed to the spread of French poststructuralism in Japan and became known as a representative of postmodernism . In addition, the President of the University of Tokyo also emerged as an influential film critic.

He invited the Swiss film director Daniel Schmid to Japan, and a friendship developed from this.
