Hatfield Puffin

The Hatfield Puffin was a British muscle power aircraft developed by a team led by John Wimpenny . John Wimpenny was an aircraft engineer at de Havilland . The Puffin was built by the Hatfield Man-Powered Aircraft Club , an association of 29 engineers from the De Havilland Works.

On May 2, 1962, 39-year-old John Wimpenny ascended to his flight in the Puffin after a take-off distance of 100 meters. He needed about two minutes for the flight distance of 900 meters. This world record was broken only after ten years.
