House Bärendorf

House Bärendorf was a manor in the Bärendorf part of Bochum 's Weitmar district and dates back to 1479. It was of the Dortmund Detmar from the Berswort applied, which consists of the Dortmund Patrizierfamilie Berswordt originated. The Werden Abbey enfeoffed him with the Grümerhof. The name Bärendorf can be traced back to "Bevinktorp", which means "village in which the Bevo clan lives".

His successor was his son Adrian , who was named from 1538 to 1563, then his brother Detmar , then his nephew Detmar von Dinsing , who was judge of the great office of Bochum from 1576 to 1593 . He was captured by Spanish privateers in 1591 and only released against a ransom of 600 Reichstalers . His heir was Detmar, who had died before 1621. The property came to his daughter Elisabeth.

Her heirs were the couple Matthias von Schaden zu Wilshausen and the couple Ludwig von Stockhausen . They sold the estate in 1652 to Wennemar von Neuhoff († 1665), Drosten of the Bochum office .

The residence of the knight's seat was demolished before 1782. The area is shaped by the Rombacher Hütte industrial park . Nothing is left of the manor today.
