House Backum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

House Backum (also Backem ) is a lost knight seat in the Herten peasantry Backum, formerly the parish of Recklinghausen .

history

The name Backum or Backem is derived from Bacheim (1150). The house, in turn, gave its name to the family of the Lords of Backum , who appeared as early as the 14th century, for example with the Recklinghausen judge Gerlach called von Bachem (1309).

The house remained in the family's hands until the middle of the 15th century. In 1460 Diederich von Backem zu Haus Leythe and his wife Styne sold the Gut zu Backem and all its accessories to Johann von Sevendair (Sevenar), whose descendants were lay judges in Recklinghausen in the mid-16th century.

Backemstrasse in Gelsenkirchen-Erle is a reminder of Backum and the von Backum family .
