Kickelhain house
The Kickelhain house at Harnischgasse 13 in Mosbach in the Neckar-Odenwald district in northern Baden-Württemberg is a historic half-timbered house . As an example of the housing situation of bygone times, it is part of the Mosbacher Stadtmuseum, located in the neighboring Altes Hospital . The building is considered to be the narrowest half-timbered house in Mosbach and one of the smallest free-standing half-timbered houses in southern Germany.
history
According to traditional history, the house was built around 1788 - after the city fire of 1723. More recent dendrochronological investigations have shown, however, that the wood for the roof beams was felled as early as 1590/91.
The house came into the possession of the city of Mosbach in 1920 and has been used as a museum since 1972/73.
description
The ground floor of the building, which is free-standing on an extremely small area, is solidly bricked, on top of which there is a two-storey half-timbered building made of oak with some floors that protrude slightly. The building faces the gable facing south to form a square-like extension of the alley. The rear gable side in particular has been preserved from the construction period, while the south gable was later modified.
